Just as I left the lift pushing my bicycle, a middle-aged man, despite his disability, hastened to hold the button for me with his other free hand. He almost stumbled himself in the process. Muttering a word of thanks with a slight nod of my head, I went on to carry the bike on my shoulder to descend the steps.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him halfway in the lift when the door seemed to start closing on him. Because of me, he had to take a slight detour to reach the inside of the lift, while pressing the door open button for me. I made it in time to hold the door open for him to make it in safely.
"THANK YOU VERY MUCH!" was the feisty response that resonated inside the lift as the door closed.
"You're welcome!" I hollered with the same amount of gusto, with a smile in my heart.
Although I did not make eye contact with him, the incident touched me. The measure of a person cannot indeed be fathomed in terms of physical appearance. What may appear frail and platitudinous may in fact be rugged and enthusiastic.
It also echoes one of my philosophies in life: you watch my back, I'll watch yours. There's enough to go around for everybody.
Useless muse of the day: Maybe the reason for identity crises is not a case of one not knowing who he/she is anymore, but everyone else not knowing him/her at all.
Useless FACT of the day: Creative has won $100 million from Apple, for successfully claiming patent rights to a file management system used in iPods. But it doesn't say if the currency is in US dollars.

Kinda miss the days
meeting baby for lunch at the school canteen.
getting to go back home and playing video games the rest of the day / basketball, which ever the mood fancies.
being mentally sedate and leaving the thinking to the adults.
weekends were really weekends
travelling even just across the Causeway to Malaysia, or taking a boat ride to nearby islands just for the heck of it
-> Oh grow up.

In Between
The first 2 tutorials this semester. NM2220, where we surfed the net and talked about what animal we'd like to be reborn as. Not very helpful 2 hour session. Must learn how to do sentence tree thing later.
NM3201: Dr Millie conducted it, and it was announced that I am going to Shanghai. Stressed, now I must make Thursday's interview. Amidst many new things coming my way, like being the video man for a game design competition that should obliterate my mid semester break.
Interview with potential bassist went ok, but it's always advisable to look around first.
