After pumping hours into Final Fantasy 8 (REALLY slow to play this only now, I must admit, then again I played part 7 three times), I am now channeling what’s left of my sober senses to think about my modules to take for the next semester January 06. (Which is more disturbing, a game that embeds its proliferation of violence subtly throughout the game where fighting is sometimes the only or fastest solution to a problem, or a graphically stimulating game that shows brutal gory images of death?)
I realized that after having gone through a semester in NUS, I still haven’t grasped fully the bidding system, the modular system, maybe even the academic skills needed to survive! Where to find information about minors of departments? If I declare a shared major strategically to bid for two disciplines, do I gain anything else other than being able to bid earlier and necessarily use fewer points? Can I get more information about the schedules and exam timetables for the modules I’m interested in taking this coming semester? What’s the main difference between taking a minor and a shared major? How important is a knowledge in business going to help in a Communications and New Media major (CNM)? How useful is an honours to CNM students?
It’s nearing the end of the calendar year, the middle of my first academic year since the army, the 3rd year I’ve been together with jo, the 15th year I’m in Singapore. Almost time to round up the events that have happened this year, the hits and misses.
