Many names were bounced off me today. I met 阿荣 for dinner at City Hall, where there was a halal restaurant he knew of. I had pineapple rice which is comparable to that at Sakura Far East Plaza.
He’s graduating this year, and is an ASEAN scholar like Cheez. It’s compelling to know how competitive it is higher up in the stratosphere of graduates vying for what many perceive to be the “dream job” after spending at least 15 years in school.
And all along I was contented with the “market rate” of about $2000 for graduates. It sure opened my eyes, hearing names like JP Morgan, Jardine Matheson, Boston Consulting Group, Barclays, Goldman Sachs, UBS and McKinley. Seriously, I don’t know most of the nature of their businesses, even though their names have popped up at some time or another.
Makes me wonder:
How far are you willing to go to carve your career path?
How much are you willing to sacrifice to make every move you make practical for future employment?
Is it possible to build a career and do every thing related to it, but also let it remain your passion?
